Here is Bird Patrol celebrating her two month birthday on a lazy summer day with her mama!
It's official! The Jockey Club has approved Bird Town18's name as "Bird Patrol."
In this video Neil Howard describes Bird Town and her filly as "forward" and what that means is a horse whose natural inclination is to go -- with enthusiasm and positiveness. It's obvious in this video Bird Town has passed along those traits to her filly. It's fun to watch!
Bird Town and her filly are on a new schedule and it looks like they're making new friends. Her new schedule: out all night; in at 7a and back out at 2p. And below is a photo of her new friend Cho Cho Cat!
Late last night, the broodmare manager at Gainesway noticed Bird Town seemed to be uncomfortable and just wasn’t acting like the Bird Town they know.
As a precautionary measure, the decision was made to take her to the clinic to be examined by a veterinarian.
As it turned out, Bird Town had a mild case of colic which was treated immediately and she was brought back to the barn within hours.
Colic is very common in horses. In layman’s terms, colic is pain in a horse’s stomach. If not treated quickly and correctly, colic can lead to serious illness and can possibly be fatal.
For 80% of colic there is no known root cause and colic symptoms may vary.
Thanks to a very caring and attentive barn staff, Bird Town is back in her stall watching over her beautiful filly.
