From Kentucky

June 30th, 2022

Floripa and her Vekoma filly are happy and well in Kentucky. You could easily spot the pair in any pasture, but they are pictured here with other Old Tavern Farm mares shipped to Kentucky for breeding with their foals in tow. Floripa and Floripa 22 are scheduled to ship back home to New York within the month.

Old Tavern Farm was a part of Foal Patrol through every season, cultivating a group of loyal followers from the beginning. We thank Old Tavern for its commitment to breeding and raising Thoroughbreds. Their participation in Foal Patrol for five years is a testament to their desire to educate and connect as many people as possible to these horses’ lives and welfare. We wish the farm, its staff, and its horses all the best.

6/20 Reminder

June 17th, 2022

This is a reminder that the last day of live camera feed at Old Tavern will be Monday, June 20th. Enjoy your weekend!

1 month!

June 11th, 2022

This filly turns 1 month old today. She'll be spending this benchmark in the Bluegrass, where she shipped with Floripa who is booked to Violence. With Floripa's "helicopter" mothering, it was a little tough initially to get a read on this filly. But in the time the farm crew spent with her before mom and filly shipped, they began to see her temperament come through. The filly tends to be even tempered while very energetic. She enjoys testing her legs and loves her time outside. Foal Patrol wishes her all the best on her special day!

In Kentucky

June 6th, 2022

Floripa and her Vekoma filly arrived in Kentucky over the weekend, where Floripa will be bred back to Violence who stands at Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa. Mom and filly will remain in Kentucky until Floripa is in foal. Click here for more information on Violence.

We have heard from some of you wondering what happens to a foal when its dam is being covered by a stallion. Visit our Season 5 Foal Care Blog for foal considerations and management while dams are in the breeding shed.
