Bird Town Cover Up!

Bird Town
May 15th, 2018

We've seen this so many times on the Foal Patrol live feed, we had to share it with Foal Patrol fans who might have missed it...Bird Town loves to cover up her filly with hay in the stall.  Maybe she's hiding her?  Maybe she's just having fun?  Maybe she knows she's entertaining us?  Some horse experts say mares will instinctively hide their foals in an effort to keep them from predators.  So cute....

Bird Town - An Original

This is a painting of Bird Town cantering back to the Winner’s Circle after winning the Kentucky Oaks in 2003.  The artist, Richard Stone Reeves was an American equine painter whom Blood-Horse magazine described as perhaps the greatest modern-day horse painter.   This was the only time he ever painted a horse cantering back to the Winner’s Circle.  John Hendrickson commissioned the piece as a gift to his wife Marylou Whitney.  The National Racing Museum and Hall of Fame has several of Reeves’ works in its collection.
