Greg Daley at Old Tavern Farm shares an update on Alpine Sky. She had her 30 day pre-foaling vaccinations this week and will have another veternarian appointment next week for more pre-delivery preparation.

In the previous update, we shared how Old Tavern is a smaller farm so they are constantly shifting what stall the mares are located in each night. At this point, they are working out a schedule and we hope to have her up on camera next week.

Old Tavern Farm and Comme Chez Soi

The staff at Old Tavern Farm have been on foal watch for about a month now. At a smaller farm like Old Tavern, the stalls can be converted into foaling stalls but, it is a constant shift of who is where and when, depending on the delivery signs from the mares. Farm Director, Greg Daley said “As we bring the different mares to the barn, it’s really just a giant game of chess.“ A funny but accurate description. This is the largest group of in-foal mares the farm has had yet. So far, they have had two mares deliver, and five left including Alpine Sky, bringing the total to seven mares.

The Foal Patrol Season 2 mare, Comme Chez Soi held out for a few days this past weekend keeping both Greg and Broodmare Manager Trina Pasckvale awake into the early morning hours. Eventually, she had a smooth delivery on Saturday, March 28. A beautiful, tall filly who first tried nursing on the walls before the farm staff assisted her in nursing from her mom. See the video of the team effort below.

Over the next few weeks, Trina Pasckvale, Broodmare manager and Greg are on foal watch for the other mares including Alpine Sky, the featured mare for Foal Patrol season 3 due on April 21. This week and next, they will start to get her ready with some pre-foaling appointments. We will be sharing more of those details soon. Thank you for following.
