Miss Always ReadyFebruary 10th, 2021
We’re breaking through the gate to kick off a new year and another season of Foal Patrol! Throughout Season 4, the Museum’s curatorial department will share exhibit and collections objects that relate to the stars of Foal Patrol. Our first curatorial spotlight features a connection to Miss Always Ready, in foal to Palace Malice at Three Chimneys Farm. This starting gate exhibit, located in the Sculpture Gallery, is the traditional starting point for any Museum tour. If you’re familiar with the racing career of Palace Malice, you might recognize the silks worn by our jockey mannequin. The distinctive green silks with yellow polka dots of Dogwood Stable are showcased in this display in recognition of its underwriters: Hall of Fame member Cot Campbell and his wife Anne. Campbell was a pioneer in the creation of racing syndicates and founded Dogwood Stable to encourage more people to participate in the sport of Thoroughbred racing by owning horses in partnership. One of their biggest recent successes was Palace Malice, winner of the 2013 Belmont Stakes. Palace Malice also holds the distinction of being the only first-crop stallion of 2019 to sire a Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Winner, Structor (a full sibling to Miss Always Ready’s future Foal Patrol star). Campbell entered the Hall of Fame as a Pillar of the Turf with the Class of 2018.
