New Money Honey back to regular schedule and handling everything with class

New Money Honey

From the e5 Racing newsletter

As most of you know, we lost a member of our team earlier this year. Unfortunately, life doesn't always go according to plan. We are forever grateful to Rood and Riddle's staff for doing everything they could to try to save our foal. Our team had chosen to mourn our loss for the last couple of months privately. As we make a return to social media, we found it essential to provide you all with an update on New Money Honey. As of recently, New Money Honey is no longer wearing a belly band, and has returned to her regular routine. She has handled the entire series of events with class. New Money Honey continues to do well, and is enjoying the season off. We hope to breed her back next season.

New Money Honey's filly

New Money Honey
April 6th, 2020

It is with great sadness we share with you that New Money Honey’s filly has been humanely euthanized. Foal Patrol received a letter from Rood and Riddle equine hospital outlining the events that led to this difficult decision. She had recovered well from her colic surgery, but several days later developed abdominal discomfort. Her second surgery showed extensive scar tissue formations, involving multiple areas of the gastrointestinal tract.  After considering all options, it was the kindest decision to make for the filly. We support the veterinary team at Rood and Riddle, the farm and the owners in their decision. New Money Honey continues to recover from her c-section. The farm is currently on limited staff due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the camera is shut down indefinitely.

Thank you for following Foal Patrol. At this time, we ask that you kindly respect the privacy of the owners and farm staff. If you have any questions, please contact the Museum directly at nmrpgasst@racingmuseum.net

Thank you for being a Foal Patrol fan. On Friday, we spoke to the owner of New Money Honey and her filly. As of Friday afternoon both the mare and filly were doing okay. As part of this program, it is important for us to respect the privacy of the owner/farm and only share updates approved by them. When we receive new information, we will share it here on Foal Patrol. Thank you for following.
