Silver Colors19 - happy and healthy

Neil Howard at Gainesway Farm provided an update on Silver Colors19

Silver Colors delivered her colt three weeks early. There is concern when this happens because of the overall health of the foal. After close observation, this foal seems to have suffered no major ill effects and is happy. The colt did suffer a couple of broken ribs during delivery which will require him to be in the stall for about 2 weeks. This measure is taken to ensure the foal doesn't overly exert itself causing further injury.

He is out of a daughter of Kentucky Derby winning filly, Winning Colors and is a half-brother to G1 stakes winner Eskimo Kisses. He is obviously a valuable commodity and we are delighted to have him on the ground in good health.

After a veternarian check, Silver Colors19 was given the all clear to go outside as his ribs have healed. A paddock camera will be installed so we can view Silver Colors and colt at Gainesway Farm. Stay tuned for updates!

Gainesway Farm sent an update on the 9 day old colt:

Silver Colors19 is doing really well. He has become more active for longer periods as the days go by. He should get an exam sometime next week to see how his ribs are healing. His mom, Silver Colors hopes he gets the all clear as she is ready to go back outside.

Here is a recent video of him playing in the stall. You can see he is energetic and full of spunk!

Silver Colors delivers a colt!

Silver Colors delivered a colt at Gainesway Farm early this morning, Sunday, April 28th. With the delivery being three weeks early, the farm staff had some concerns during the birth. In order to ensure everyone was healthy and safe, they turned off the cameras last night. Mom and foal needed some time to recover, but they are both doing pretty well now.

Neil Howard, General Manager at Gainesway shared that following the foaling, the colt was found to have a couple broken ribs. They will restrict the foal's turnout to the stall for the next two weeks to allow the ribs to heal. The colt will be checked and examined later on to confirm the ribs are healing well.

Silver Colors19 is settling in well to life at the farm and the Gainesway farm staff will continue to keep a close eye on him. Here is a image of him nursing!
